Came here for an appointment for an acrylic refill. I get my nails short because I work in healthcare, he filed them down and one nail chipped so he took it off and said “i will put another tip”. Because my nails were short he didn’t put another tip, just put acrylic over it. Which isn’t a big deal but you can tell the difference in thickness in the nails. I wanted to do french tip with little dot designs. The way they do french tips confused me they just paint over the nail and clean it with a wet brush, at first just the tip of my nails had the color nothing on the side. I mentioned it asking if he could color the side and he didn’t give me a hard time he was happy to do it. But the final result was a very thick line of color on the sides of the french tip and overall not a clean french tip. The french tips it self is just not what I was expecting. When it was time to do the dot design I waited about 15-20 min when I was already there for almost 2 hours. Finally someone came over once she finished with her client and told me she couldn’t do the design because there wasn’t enough space to work with on the french tip. I was already frustrated over how the nails looked and the fact I waited just for her to say she can’t do it. I’ve been getting my nails done for years so i’m not even upset I couldn’t get the design but the french tip and nails its self are just awful. I payed about $50 which is fair, I would pay at most salons. Everyone was very very nice I have to say so I didn’t even want to complain as badly as I did especially with the guy I had, I could tell he was really trying and did take his time with it. I was just upset to spend the money for something that I didn’t like. I would say this place is great for solid colors (no french tip/design’s) and regular manicures nails but acrylics no. This was my first time here so it was an experience. Again I’m not thrilled about my nails, but overall I appreciate how kind and friendly everyone was and the environment was clean.

I had an appointment at Lotus Nail Salon in Winsted for a pedicure and a full set of acrylics. It was myself, my daughter, and her friend. We were greeted and seated to wait while we chose our colors. While waiting, I noticed one of the employees performing pedicures had a very wet, persistent cough. She was not covering her mouth and was repeatedly snorting back mucus. Out of four employees, three were wearing masks — she was not. Unfortunately, she was the technician assigned to me. I am currently 6 months pregnant, so I’m very cautious about getting sick. After several minutes of continuous coughing while my foot bath filled, I asked if I could have a mask. I was told the technician has asthma and that if I was uncomfortable, I should wear a mask. I was given two masks, which I put on. I didn’t want to cause a scene — I just wanted to feel safe. The service itself was also disappointing. After not being asked which pedicure package I wanted, I had to request the menu myself. Once the service began, lotion was applied generously to my legs for about 10 minutes — but there was no actual massage and my feet were never massaged at all. When I asked if she was going to massage my feet, I was told she already had. At that point, I was extremely frustrated. Between being coughed on and receiving what felt like a half-done service for $55, I decided to stop the appointment. I calmly explained that I couldn’t continue, offered to pay half, and left. To be fair, my daughter’s acrylic nails came out mostly nice — however, there was a black dot and even a hair stuck in the polish. Before this, I had been in a knee brace and was really looking forward to finally being pampered. As a pregnant woman who simply wanted a relaxing experience, this was disappointing and uncomfortable. I will not be returning.

I came to the salon for a pedicure based on positive reviews on this site. I felt they were very cheap on the ingredients used for my pedicure. She literally took one grain of bath salt and put it in my basin to soak my feet Could they spare it? They also used a nail brush to scrub my legs rather than some nice body scrub I was highly disappointed at the cleanliness it lacked. The technician that did my pedicure, cut my toe pretty badly as it was bleeding. He Never apologized and even charged me the full price. As I was sitting under the nail dryer, I was looking around and realized just how filthy this place is The floors are horrible and there is a lot of dust and dirt around. Looks like I don’t have to come here again What a disappointment

They truly care about their customers - and that goes a long way. Went here for a facial massage lasting thirty minutes. It was very nice . The place is very sanitary and the staff affable. I love the aquarium containing goldfish at the door! The other customers were all regulars whom the staff greeted on a first-name basis. The pricing for the various treatments is very reasonable. Parking abundant in Torrington Parkade out front. Bathroom available for customers.
